CCTVs will be installed in the coaches that carry currency or gold

Southern Railways general manager Vashishta Johri while speaking to the media said: This year till July 34 rail coaches have been permanently augmented. Last year only 14 rail coaches were augmented.  1 lakhs 11 thousand 583 beds have been created.  The construction of the fifth and sixth lines between Chennai Central and Basin Bridge is expected to commence from October this year. The terminal at Tambaram that is being developed as the third hub for passenger rail traffic will be completed by the fiscal year. It has been decided to install another 32 escalators. 

All the reserved coaches will have two charging points. Under the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Mission, cleaning of railway stations are being done in the best way. Green belt is being developed in Southern Railway. Tree saplings are planted in railway stations. This year the target was 4 lakhs trees. Railways will plant 2 lakhs trees while Tamil Nadu Government will plant  2 lakhs trees. This will be done once the north east monsoon commences. Recently in the Chennai-Salem express train, thieves opened the top and robbed the soiled currency notes. In future, CCTVs will be installed in the coaches that carry currency or gold. In Southern Railway stations 136 CCTVs will be installed. In Tamil Nadu alone 100 CCTVs will be fitted. In Chennai Division 82 CCTVs will be installed in the stations.
