Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala will be opened on August 16

The Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple in Kerala is open for darshan only during certain specific periods in a year. It is opened for Mandala Pooja, Makaravilakku Day, Monthly Poojas and Onam.
The Temple will open for Aavani month on 16th of this month. Poojas will be performed till 21st. Melsanthi E.S. Sankaran Namboodiri will open the sanctum sanctorum at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and the rituals will begin with the tantri performing Ashtadravya Ganapati homom on Wednesday morning. Laksharchana will be performed on Wednesday (Chingom 1). Laksharchana will be performed at the Maha Ganapati temple at Pampa, in the foothills of Sabarimala, on Thursday.
The temple will reopen for the 10-day Onam festival on September 12.
