As the works to lay dual routes along Chennai to Madurai is now completed, trains in southern districts will run at increased speed. This will lead to reduced travel time by one hour.
It takes long hours for us to travel from Chennai to Madurai, Nellore, Nagracoil and other southern districts. Omni buses are the ones that reach the destination on time.
As their ticket rates are costly, people mostly do not prefer them. They prefer train journey to Omni bus travel.
It takes twelve hours to travel from Chennai to Nellore and Tuticorin and nine hours to Madurai. As works to lay dual lane is now complete, Ananthapuri and Guruvayur express trains heading to Trichy Malaikottai, Madurai Pandiyan, and Trivandrum are increased in travel speed. These trains will travel one hour ahead than their usual timing. An electrical path is also being laid along this dual lane and hence, few more trains are also set to increase in their travel speed.
With this, we can avoid delay in arrival. This dual lane will avoid hassles in train journey. Hence, we can avoid delay by several hours.
Now, four express trains heading from Egmore will be made superfast trains. In these trains, the speed will be increased.
Train between Egmore and Rameshwaram, (16713) express will be numbered 22661 henceforth.Train between Rameshwaram and Egmore (16714) will run in new number 22662.
Train between Egmore and Jodhpur will run at new number 22663.The train between Jodhpur and Egmore will run at new number 22664. This will function from 10th of December.However, the superfast rates for these trains will be charged from 1st of October.
