3 Assembly constituencies elections to be held in November

The local body elections in Tamil Nadu are to be held on 24th of next month. Officials of the election commission have mentioned that the elections to the 3 assembly constituencies will be held during the month of November.  

Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections were held on 16th May. The EC had decided to cancel the polls scheduled in Thanjavur and Aravakurichi citing reports of seizure of huge money.
 
Elections were held in the balance 232 constituencies. ADMK came into power. S.M. Seenivel the MLA-elect of Tirupparankundram constituency belonging to Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam passed away.
 
Because of this, there are 3 constituencies’ lying vacant.  The political parties insisted in conducting the elections in three constituencies even before counting of the votes. After the results, no one was interested in these elections.
 
If legislative member passes away, the elections should be conducted within 6 months for the vacant constituency. As per this, the elections to Tirupparankundram constituency should be held within 25th November.
 
In between, next month the local body elections are to be held. State Election Commission has informed the Madras High Court that it will conduct the local body elections will be held before 24th October, Hence Election Commission has decided to conduct the election for Thanjavur, Aravakurichi and Tirupparankundram assembly constituencies during the month of November. \
 
Official of Election Commission said: Elections to Tirupparankundram assembly constituency should be conducted by November. But this rule will not apply for Thanjavur and Aravakurichi constituencies. However the elections to the three constituencies will be held after the local body elections. The election dates are likely to be announced during the last week of October.
