UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) has recommended the Ministry of the Training that changes must be made in the current IAS/IPS examinations system.

Earlier, UPSC had appointed a Committee headed by retired IAS Officer P S Paswan for studying the current Civil Services Examinations like IAS/IPS. This committee had submitted its recommendations last month. It is understood that the committee had recommended lots of changes.

UPSC has forwarded their recommendations to the ministry of training for a final decision to be taken.

It is gathered that the committee had recommended various aspects including lowering the current eligibility age from 32.

In the current system for Civil Service recruitment, there are 3 stages – Preliminary examination, Main Examination, and the interview.

Candidates in the age group 21-32 can apply for the Civil Service Examinations.

Age concession is given to backward classes, SC/ST, and those candidates from Jammu and Kashmir.
