Southwest monsoon 5 percent less than average this year

A recent press release from the Chennai Meteorological Centre informs that the depression which had formed over the Bay of Bengal has weakened in intensity, However, there may be rains in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry due to thermal convection.
Chennai weather may remain cloudy. There are prospects of rain in the evening or night.
The southwest monsoon seasonal rains have abated in West Rajasthan and nearby areas.
It is stated that the southwest monsoon this year was 5 percent less than the average.
