CM Jayalalithaa announcement: 2000 apartments to be built in Sholinganallur

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has ordered to construct 2000 apartments in Sholingsnallur, adjacent to Chennai Metro.

In a related press release by the Tamil Nadu government, it is informed that 1500 multi-storeyed buildings are being constructed by the Tamil Nadu Housing Development Board in Sholinganallur.

Subsequent to this, the Chief Minister has ordered another 2000 apartments for the low-income group, middle-income group, and high-income group. This will be built at an expense of Rs. 600 Crores. Under this scheme, the price of the low-income group apartments will be fixed under Rs. 20 Lakhs.

These apartments will have 1 Hall, 2 Bedrooms, and a kitchen. The area will be 645 sq ft. Middle-income group apartments will be fixed at a price under Rs. 30 Lakhs. The area will be 807 sq ft.

In the last 5 years, some of the old government staff quarters in highly damaged condition have been rebuilt. Also, the government staff quarters in Dindigul, Madurai, Pudhukkottai, Trichy, Erode, and Hosur are also in highly damaged condition. These will be demolished and 904 new Tamil Nadu staff quarters apartments and another 1266 apartments for public sale will be constructed by the State Housing Board at a cost of Rs. 401.84 Crores.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has also ordered the construction of new apartments to meet the demand of the housing need for people under different income groups, 873 apartments are to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 256.34 Crores under the self-financing scheme in Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Tanjore, and Tirunelveli districts.
