With the onset of the festive season, most of the Airline service providers have stopped the festive season concessions for the last moment bookings.
So, the flight fares have gone up from 45 percent to 90 percent compared to the normal rates.
During the end of last month, Mumbai-Delhi flight ticket fare was Rs. 3488/- when booked 1 week in advance. Now, if the flight booking is done a week before, the fare is Rs. 5557/-.
During the end of last month, the flight fare for Mumbai-Bangalore was Rs. 3066/- and now it is Rs. 4446/-.
Delhi-Bangalore flight fare has gone up from Rs. 3620/- to Rs. 7071/-.
An official explained:
Airlines services main source of income/profit is during the season. For the last 2 months, concessions were offered for the tickets booked during last moments. Now, this is not possible.
Some airlines stopped this concession by the end of September. The concession was available between July and September. This may even be 10 percent as compared to the last year situation.
However, with the onset of festive season - Dussera and Deepavali, the concessions have been withdrawn.
A Travel Agency person explained that generally the flight bookings done 15 days in advance cost less. However, for the passengers planning a flight for Deepavali, he/she needs to book right now.
