11-digit mobile phone numbers to be introduced soon

The central government department of telecommunication has decided to introduce 11-digit numbers for the mobile phones.Currently, 10-digit system for mobile phone numbers is in vogue.
This 10-digit number system was introduced in the year 2003. At that time, a decision was taken to keep this 10-digit mobile phone number system for the next 30 years.
However, there has been a gigantic growth both in the telecommunication technology/industry and mobile phone usage.
So, it is expected that there may some difficulties in allotting 10-digit mobile phone numbers to the phone service providers.
Considering this, the department of telecommunications has taken a decision to introduce 11-digit numbers for mobile phones.
