All-woman facilitation centre at Chennai Egmore station

After opening the all-woman facilitation centre at Central, Southern Railway opened a similar facility at Egmore on Thursday.
The objective is to provide guidance in accessing the facilities at the retiring and rest room and medical help provided, to help women passengers get pre-paid auto and taxi services and also facilitate in registering complaints related to railways.
It also has a separate enclosure for women breastfeeding children. The centre, opened on platform 4 of Egmore station, beside the emergency medical counter of SRM Hospitals, Every centre will have at least three women staff, two from the commercial department and one from Railway Protection Force
Fast Wi-Fi has been launched in Chennai Egmore. These is also a map explaining how to get the WI-FI facility. The Wi-Fi service is free for first half an hour to every user with a speed of 2 Mbps. Users have to register with their mobile numbers to start the session. After the first half hour, the service is chargeable with options to use recharge coupons that cab be purchased from RailTel kiosks at the railway station or recharging online.
