The Southern Regional Manager of the Reserve Bank of India Sadakathulla has announced that all banks in Tamil Nadu will work without any weekend holiday breaks.
In a press release regarding this, he explained that customers have been approaching the banks in very large numbers for exchanging the recently declared invalid currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000.
In order to alleviate the customers’ hardships and also reduce the crowd level, all the banks will work without any weekend breaks till 30th December.
In a response, the president of the Bank Officers’ Association Mr. Thomas expressed that it would be rather difficult for the bank employees to work without any breaks, So, break is essential. Also, sufficient quantities of Rs. 100 currency notes must be given to all the banks. Right now, there is an acute shortage of Rs. 100 currency notes, putting the banks and the public into great hardships.
