On all Saturdays and Sundays, most marathon enthusiasts and marathoners regardless of age, gender and profession march on to Cubbon Park, Lalbagh, the green campuses of University of Agricultural Sciences (Hebbal) and Bangalore University (Jnana Bharathi) on all weekends.

Those who regularly run in marathons enjoy a well-balanced life with good physical fitness and endurance. Most of them consume only homemade food like roti and dal. On days before the running event, they consume food rich in carbohydrates like rice, fluid intake, etc.

In the past three years, along the Bengaluru running scenes, over ten prominent training groups have evolved. They ensure good training with a disciplined regimen.

There is a runners’ group called Burners founded by Karthik Nagaraj and Veeresh Bagalkot around an year ago. This has 250 plus members now inclusive of 30 women of age ranging from 18 to 45.

One of the marathon runners Vickram Swamy says he regularly gets trained at Jnana Bharathi campus where they keep themselves updated about the WhatsApp and Facebook sessions.

Amidst the hectic life, corporates enjoy the training sessions so refreshing. The race director at Life is Calling Sport says that they began with organizing such events around six years ago for celebrating Dussehra like occasions.
