The next cyclone name in the list in North Indian Ocean basin was Nada (contributed by Oman). With Deep Depression intensifying one further notch, the IMD has named it as Cyclonic Storm Nada. There is not so much difference between a Deep Depression and Cyclonic storm.
The cyclone Nada is likely to cross the Tamil Nadu coast on December 2nd morning between Nagapattinam and Pondycherry. There is a very tight agreement in the track so it wont change much. The cyclone may just weaken close to the coast due to the wind shear and less engery available.
December 1st - Coastal areas from Pudukottai to Tiruvallur district will get Heavy Rainfall. (Refer the yesterday post for the rainfall intensity scale).Delta region and other cavery belts will get good rainfall with delta on the higher side.
Chennai to see good rains on December 1st and 2nd morning. The next 2 days will also see isolated moderate rainfall.December 2nd/3rd/4th - Watchout for Nilgiris / Coimbator ghat areas. Particularly Coonoor Belt for heavy rains as the system tries to move into Arabian sea. All moisture gets trapped there.
Extreme South TN will miss most of the rains from the cyclone and isolated spells likely.Fisherman should not even think about venturing into the sea for the next two days.Gusts / Winds of 60-70 km/hr are possible across Central / Tamil Nadu coast on December 1st night / 2nd Morning.
