Low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is now set to culminate in the formation of a cyclone.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has mentioned that due to this, there will be rains in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. S Balachandran, director, Regional Meteorological Centre said: A preparatory low-pressure area has intensified into a depression, and was located 1,210 km south-south-east of Visakhapatnam.
In the next 24 hours this will grow into a deep depression and a cyclonic storm. The would-be cyclone may initially move in a west-northwest direction. This has been closely monitored. Moreover there is upper air cyclonic circulation in South Tamil Nadu. Due to this, there will be rains for the next 24 hours in some places of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. As far as Chennai is concerned the sky will be cloudy and there will be rains in some places.
