First underground metro line may be commissioned before deadline

Chennai Metro Rail Limited has plans to commission the first underground metro rail between Nehru Park and Thirumangalam in another three months. The actual deadline was April 2017. Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) officials said they were working towards getting the line ready in the next three months and had begun installing signalling and electronic systems from Shenoy Nagar to Nehru Park.
The 8-km Nehru Park-Thirumangalam line, part of corridor II of phase I, comprises seven stations.
