The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that due to the low-level depression zone formed over Maldives Island, there are good prospects of rain in a few places in South Tamil Nadu.
It may be recalled that so far, there were instances of 3 cyclones forming without any substantial rainfall. In this scenario, the cyclonic format in the upper layers of the atmosphere which developed near Thailand has intensified and formed into a deep depression zone. However, this did not move towards Tamil Nadu but drifting elsewhere. So, the prospects of rain are rather dim in Tamil Nadu.
An official from the Chennai Meteorological Centre explained that the recent depression zone over the Bay of Bengal has gradually drifted and stabilised over the area between Maldives and Lakshadweep Islands.
Because of this, there are good prospects of rain with thunder in the next 24 hours in South Tamil Nadu and Coastal Districts like Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Pudhukkottai.
The other areas in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will continue to have dry weather.
Chennai Metro will generally have a cloudy sky. It will have a maximum temperature of 31 Degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 23 Degrees Celsius.
