Police Department launch SMS complaint service

The Tamil Nadu State Police Department has initiated efforts to improve the services rendered to the public.
Accordingly, one facility of replying through SMS for all the FIRs (First Information Report) submitted in the Police Stations is being introduced. This has been implemented since 17th December.
A brief on the press release issued by the Additional DGP Seema Agarwal regarding this:
SMS will be sent to the complainant who had registered FIR in the police station and regarding crimes where the culprit can be caught, in case the enquiry has been completed and a case being registered in the court.
For receiving this SMS information, it is sufficient if the FIR is lodged. Currently, SMS is sent in the English Language. SMS service in the Tamil Language will be implemented shortly.
