Mandala Kala poojas completed in Sri Sabarimala temple: Corridors reopening on 30th Dec

With all the special Mandala Kala Pooja being completed at the famous Sabarimala Sri Ayyappan Temple, the temple corridors were closed yesterday (Tuesday, 27th December).

The temple corridors will be reopened for the occasion of Makara Vilakku kala Pooja in the evening on 30th December.

The mandala kala pooja commenced on the 1st of the Tamil/Malayalam calendar month Karthigai were completed yesterday (Tuesday, 27th December) night.

In the evening day-before-yesterday (Monday, 26th December), the deity of Lord Ayyappa was adorned with a golden jacket and special deepaaradhana was performed.

Though the temple corridors were opened as early as 3.00AM on 27th December (Monday), the waiting queue was quite long and had crossed beyond Saranguthi.

However, the crowd level abated at 9.00 AM yesterday (Tuesday) as the number of devotees reaching Pampa reduced. This provided some relief for the police.

The nei abhisheka (divine bath of the deity with ghee) was completed by 10.00 AM yesterday (27th December) and the activities for the Mandala kala pooja commenced. Tantri Kandararu Rajeevararu filled the kalasam with kalabam.

After that, Melsanthi Unnikrishnan carried the kalasam and the procession started, When the kalasam reached the temple, tantric performed the kalaba abhishkeham on the deity of Lord Ayyappa with the kalasam. After this, at 12.15 PM, the deity of the Lord Ayyappa was adorned with the golden jacket and manadala poojai was performed and then deepa aradhana was performed. The temple corridors were closed by 1.00 PM.

The temple corridors reopened by 5.00 PM. Deep aradhanai, Pushpabhishekham, and Anthaazha Pooja were performed. After this, at 10.00 PM, the deity of the Lord Ayaapa was applied with the sacred ash and the Yoga nilai was established. The temple corridors were closed.

The temple corridors will open again for performing Makara vilakku kaala pooja at 5.00 PM on 30th December. ‘Neyyabhshekam’ will be performed on the deity of Lord Ayyappa at 3.30 AM on 31st December.
