Eicher, SGBS Unnati Foundation and Rotary join hands for ‘Skilled India’

Eicher Group, the well known vehicle manufacturer in India in partnership with SGBS Unnati Foundation and the Rotary Club of Madras, has rolled out a Vocational Training Program called "Eicher Academy for Skills”.

The sole purpose of this Academy is to enable youngsters and young adults to pick up essential skills and provide assistance in securing a job with Small and Medium Businesses. The training programme will be held at the Industrial School, Selaiyur, which is a part of the Rotary Club of Madras.

Elaborating on the Eicher Academy for Skills, Mr. G. Sekar, Director, Eicher Group Foundation said, “Youngsters are the future of this country and one of the greatest strengths India has. Our programme is aimed at providing skills to these youth, giving them an opportunity to grow professionally. We are thankful to SGBS Unnati Foundation and Rotary Club of Madras for partnering with us in this noble endeavour.”

Dr. Arulmozhi Varman, President, Rotary Club of Madras said, “Rotary’s thrust is also on providing quality education and eradicating illiteracy. So, when this proposition was put to us, we readily agreed and offered our space for the Students to undergo this vocational training program.”

The vocational training programme will run for 50 days. The courses offered as part of this training include Spoken English, Basic Computer Training, Tally, Life Skills and Values Training. The programme is being offered free of cost to youth above the age of 18 years, who are unable to complete their formal education and come from weak financial backgrounds. SGBS Unnati Foundation will also assist the candidates in finding suitable jobs after they undergo the basic training.
