Pilgrims throng Tirumala Temple

Thousands of devotees, who had assembled in front of the main temple complex the previous night, welcomed the New Year amidst chanting of Govinda, Govinda as the priests opened the gargantuan doors of the temple minutes after the zero hour.
Pre-dawn rituals inside the temple like Thiruppavai, Thomalai and Archana were observed in ekantham.
The New Year commenced on a successful note when the darshan for pilgrims commenced by TTD well before scheduled time for commoners at 2.40am with the efforts of the work force.The entire temple complex and its interiors were colorfully illuminated and tastefully decorated with aromatic flowers.Those in the protocol categories and other VIPs were allowed to have darshan from the Ramulavari meda at 2 am.
