Weather update: A new depression zone near Andaman

It is informed that a new depression zone formed near Andaman is expected to intensify on 5th January and develop into a low-pressure zone.
An official from the Chennai Meteorological Centre explained that the depression zone originally formed near Thailand has drifted and taken position near Andaman. There is a likelihood that it will intensify and develop into a low-pressure zone around 5th January 2017.
Due to another low-pressure zone situated near Maldives, there are prospects of rain in the next 24 hours in a few places in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Other parts of Tamil Nadu will experience a dry weather.
Chennai will remain somewhat cloudy. There might be light drizzles in a few places.
