Chennai in black smog due to Bhogi effect

Posted on: 13/Jan/2017 11:25:48 AM
Marking the occasion of Bhogi festival, the city dwellers in and around Chennai carried out their ritualistic practice of burning the old materials in their places.

As usual, this created a huge havoc of smoke and smog effect obstructing the morning commuters down the lanes and roads. This isn’t just limited to Chennai, but across the entire Tamil Nadu. In addition to the old waste materials, the people here in Tamil Nadu have been burning the old dried leaves from the devastated trees of Vardah cyclone.

This has added up extreme smog effect to the existing fog in the state, especially Chennai. With such hampering deeds, it has paved way for more air pollution leading to the view of black smoke everywhere, which wasn’t affecting the walkers, but the 2 wheeler, four wheelers and heavy vehicle commuters and transporters too.
