Republic day rehearsals postponed due to Jallikattu protests

On the Republic Day, the national flag will be hoisted near Gandhi Statue in Marina Kamarajar Salai. In view of this, armed police personnel will be rehearsing for the parade. This year, the republic day rehearsals were supposed to take place on 19th, 21st and 24th.
The city police had announced that the vehicles will not be permitted on Kamarajar Salai between 6 am and 10 am on the rehearsal days and on republic day. The vehicles will not be permitted from Light House to War Memorial.
Now the public, students and other organizations are protesting in support of Jallikattu. Since this protest is going on, the rehearsal which was supposed to take place yesterday was postponed. The venue for the rehearsal which was supposed to take place on 21st will be changed.
