Public attendance at Marina Beach reduced drastically due to 144

There were less people at Marina Beach though it was Sunday yesterday. There were protests in Chennai and Tamil Nadu in support of Jallikaatu. On the 7th day, the police took steps to disperse the protestors. Due to this violence erupted. In view of this heavy police was deployed in Marina Beach. At this juncture, there was news that again a congregation is going to be formed in Marina Beach. In view of the foregoing the police have promulgated Sec 144 to prevent further unlawful assembly on the beach, Visitors largely stayed away as policemen in large groups kept a close vigil along Kamarajar Salai from Napier`s Bridge to the lighthouse.
