Ban on registration of land extended: Tamil Nadu given time till 27th February

The Chennai High Court has ordered the extension of the present ban on registration of agricultural lands as plots for housing. It has given the state government of Tamil Nadu time till 27th February.

A petition was submitted to the Chennai High Court to impose a ban on the sales of agricultural lands as housing plots. This was taken by the Chennai High Court and a detailed enquiry was conducted. After this, the Chennai High Court ordered a ban on the sales of agricultural lands as housing plots.

However, a case was presented on behalf of the real estate owners to remove this ban. This case was brought up today (Monday, 30th January)  for enquiry. It was represented on behalf of the real estate owners that the public is put to hardships because of this ban.

Following this, the judges observed that it is up the state government to ascertain the public hardship because of this and it has to take the decision. The Chennai High Court gave an extension of time to the state government of Tamil Nadu to categorize the unapproved plots till 27th February and adjourned the case.
