At the start of the transactions of the Foreign Exchange market today (Wednesday, 1st February), the Indian Rupee appreciated against the US Dollar by 24 Paise and the exchange rate stood at Rs. 67.63 per US Dollar.
The demand for US Dollars has come down from the export traders and the banks.
An agent dealing in foreign exchange explained that the weakening of the US Dollar against other currencies and the increase in the local share market have contributed to the appreciation of the Indian Rupee.
It is worth noting that the last trade time, the value of the Indian Rupee had appreciated by 8 Paise and stood at Rs. 67.87 per US Dollar.
