By-election to RK nagar constituency will be held during the month of May

Following the demise of the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, the by-election to RK nagar constituency will be held during the month of May.
Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa won the assembly elections in the RK nagar constituency during the month of May 2016. The former chief minister was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on September 22 and died on December 5, necessitating a by-election. By-election should be held within 6 months of the constituency falling vacant. As per this, the information was passed to Indian Election Commission by the Tamil Nadu Election Commission.
