Indian Railways issue privilege passes for the employees and its family members for their personal journey throughout India. Passes are issued according to the pay of the employee. A query was raised in the parliament whether such passes would be linked to Aadhar. Replying to this query, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu informed Parliament that at present, there is no such proposal to link Aadhar with railway passes.
So far there was no facility for railway employees to book their passes on online. Now Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has informed that very soon employees and pensioners of Railways will be able to book tickets online through any portal.
Gazetted railway officers are given six sets of privilege passes in a year and the non-gazetted railway employees get one set of privilege pass up to end of fifth year of railway service and thereafter three sets a year,
