The central government is adopting various ways to increase tax revenues. The aim of this is to make majority of the people to pay their taxes. The income tax department is resorting to various methods to make the people pay their taxes. Those of who come under the tax ambit can file the retunes only if they have a PAN card. After applying for a PAN card, one has to wait for a longer period to get the card. In view of this Central Board of Direct Taxes has found a solution. Now a person can apply for a PAN card through their smartphone and get the PAN number instantly.
These days SIM cards are being issued through e- KYC . Central Board of Direct Taxes has mentioned that the same method can be followed in issuing the PAN card. In the present system one has to for two to three weeks to get a PAN card after applying for it. Now based on the Aadhaar e-KYC facility, the PAN card can be issued immediately.
Apart from this, the Income Tax department is developing an app that will soon allow assessees to pay taxes.
