Aadhar card is mandatory for school students to get scholarship

The Ministry for Human Resources Department has announced that Aadhar card is mandatory for school students to get scholarship. The Central Government is granting scholarship to meritorious school students from economically weaker sections. This scholarship is given to students studying from 9th standard to Plus 2 in government and government aided schools.
 
Scholarship of Rs 500 per month is awarded to meritorious students every year. Under this scheme, 2.05 lakh students were beneficiaries of the scheme during the year 2015-2016. At this juncture, the HRD Ministry has stated that Aadhar card should be submitted to obtain these scholarships. Students who want to avail scholarship benefits under this scheme need to get enrolled under Aadhaar by June 30.
 
For the students who do not possess Aadhar cards, the school Principals will have to make arrangements to take children to the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
