No need of Aadhar for withdrawal from pension accounts

According to retirement fund body EPFO’s latest announcement, pension account holders can now make full and final withdrawal of funds without wanting to provide Aadhar number.

A senior official with the EPFO stated that applicants who claim withdrawal of funds from their pension account need not submit Aadhar numbers, relaxing from what was earlier mandated.

With Form 10C, pensioners who hold lesser than 10 years as service period can claim their final settlement from the total amount accumulated in their pension account.

At the same time, the official says, those who submit claims for fixing their pension with Form 10D should provide Aadhar number or enrolment slips.

The reason behind giving this relaxation is that there were issues caused due to mandating submission of Aadhar number under Form 10C for settlement of withdrawal cases. Hence, Aadhar number is mandated only for the pension fixation under form 10D and it is not applicable for withdrawal cases under Form 10C.

It was in January this year that EPFO mandated Aadhar number submission for pensioners and subscribers to continue availing services under varied social security schemes.

Furthermore, at the time of settlement for pension accounts under Employees’ Pension Scheme 1995, Aadhar number was mandated too.
