The +2 Public examinations commenced yesterday (Thursday, 2nd March). The state Minister for Education, Mr. Sengottaiyan, supervised the students writing the examination in the State Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Egmore, Chennai.
The Minister has a session with the press reporters. He told that 930000 candidates are writing the +2 examinations. The students have been allowed to write the examinations in 10 local languages for all subjects other than English including Tamil, Urdu, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam,
The former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa introduced the scheme of giving incentives to encourage studies. Because of this, 65000 more students are writing the +2 examinations this year.
The written test for the appointment of the Laboratory Assistants in government schools has been conducted. The appointments will be decided within the next 10 days.
In the schools for minorities, Tamil teachers are available. In the schools where no teachers have been posted, teachers from the Parent Teacher Association will work.
The students are ready to write NEET (Nationaal Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test).
Many teachers were appointed during the time of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Currently, there are no vacancies for teachers. However, some teachers will be retiring. This will lead to the requirement for 3000 teachers. These vacancies will be filled up on the basis of performance in TET.
In consultation with the Chief Minister, a decision will be taken on the appointment of teachers by selection from the candidates who have already written TET and passed.
