Women draw 25 percent lesser salary than men

As compared to men, there is 25 percent difference in salary drawn by men and women with the women receiving the lesser. Men get more opportunities to get promoted, women claim.
 
This payment gap is wide with IT and manufacturing sectors, according to the Monster Salary Index, MSI. While the median gross hourly salary for women lies around Rs 259.80, the same for men is Rs 345.80. There is definitely gender parity in India inc, and the management should consider the issue, say women of India Inc.
 
In spite of taking many initiatives for equality in pay and promotions and creating better inclusive environment, over 62.40 percent women blame companies for being biased towards men in giving promotions. Gender plays a vital role and there are other deciding parameters as well, they denunciate.
 
Monster India had captured responses from 2000 and above working women. Over 68.5 percent and more women claimed that the management does not take any measure in the regard where gender parity is a prime issue.
 
Among the major challenges women face is absence of satisfying and proper child care due to which they are forced to quit job. Giving proper child care is among the fundamental challenges, say 13.1 percent women.
