The National Egg Coordination Committee at Namakkal has revised egg rates and reduced by 0.15 paise. Accordingly, the farm purchase price of an egg is fixed as 350 paise. Price reduction in other zones, dip in sales in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, etc are among the reasons for the slashing down the rate. In the other zones, an egg is priced 325 paise, 342 paise, 375 paise, 368 paise and 360 paise at Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Mumbai, Mysore and Bengaluru respectively.
An egg consists of 7g protein, 5g fat, 75 calories, 185mg of cholesterol, 70mg of sodium and 67mg of potassium.
