Making transportation comfortable, Hyperloop connects cities with high speed commuting. It has now opened a vote involving five routes in India.

The teams that got involved in Hyperloop One Global Challenge are called. These teams are requested to share viable transportation plans to different regions as it will be of help for millions of commuters.

What is Hyperloop?
This is a technology that was found by Elon Musk, an inventor and businessmen. He is he one behind Tesla, an electric car company and SpaceX, the commercial space transport company. It sends across magnetically levitated pods via tubes with low pressure. These are sent in extremely high speed with goods or people. The system is now being developed between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

People are requested to share easy transportation plans to reach their respective countries. So far, 2600 registrations from 90 different countries are received. Out of this, 35 semi-finalists across continents are refined. The highest number of registrations are from India.

There are five semi-finalists from India. They have proposed the following routes
  • 334km travel between Bengaluru and Chennai traveling in 20 minutes
  • 736km of travel between Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram traveling for 41 minutes. This connects major ports of southern India and population centres of Coimbatore and Kochi
  • 1317km of travel to connect Delhi and Mumbai traveling via Jaipur and Indore and the total traveling period is 55 minutes. This connects two mega cities and there is also seaport access for interior landlocked cities
  • 1102 km travel to connect Mumbai and Chennai through Bengaluru by commuting for about 50 minutes.
