All the central government employees will be on a token 1-day strike on 16th March (Thursday) insisting that their 20-point demands must be taken care of immediately by the central government.

This demand includes:
  • The new Pension Scheme must be withdrawn immediately.
  • The old Pension Scheme must be made to continue unconditionally.
  • The Basic pay of the central government employees should be revised to Rs. 25000/-,
It is very much expected that the all the works in the central government would be affected by a great extent due to this 1-day token strike.

The General Secretary of the Central government Officers and Employees federation Mr. M. Duraipandian explained in a session with the press reporter that the notice for the strike was given protesting against the recommendations of the 7th Wages Review Committee in the year 2016.

There was a discussion between the central government and the Union representatives. Committees were formed. Relying on the promises given, the plans to protest were withdrawn temporarily.

However, it is almost 8 months after the above committees were formed and no reliable announcement have been made. The central government employees did not get the House Rent Allowance, Conveyance allowance, etc.

Following this, the Federation has decided to go on a token 1-day strike to emphasize the above demands. So, the token 1-day strike will be observed on 16th March insisting on 20-point demand including the following:
  • As per the committee recommendations, around 2.5 lakh rural personnel employed in the Postal Department must be given appointment orders.
  • The new Pension scheme must be withdrawn immediately.
  • The government continue the Old Pension Scheme unconditionally.
  • A basic pay of Rs. 25000/- must be given.
This token 1-day strike will be participated by 105 unions including the postal department, all unions of the Income Tax department, Kalpakkam Atomic Power station Employees Union, Employees of the central government Shastri Bhavan and Rajaji Bhavan,

12.5 Lakh central government employees all over the country including 1.25 Lakh central government employees in Tamil Nadu will participate in this token 1-day strike.
