The price of the petition stamp-papers which are used for submission to the Panchayat Offices has been increased suddenly. The public and the advocates are upset about this.
Petition stamp papers are used in all the Tamil Nadu state government offices, to get the approval of the state government schemes, to obtain certificates from the taluk offices or the rural panchayat offices and to submit to the high court for enquiry. For petition stamp-papers fixed at Rs. 3 were being used.
In this scenario, the price of the stamp-paper has been increased to Rs. 20 from 1st March. The Public has expressed their being upset informing that even the price of submitting our grievances also has gone up.
Advocates in High Court informed that it costs more than Rs. 1000 to file an enquiry petition due to the price increase of stamp papers.
An advocate explained that from henceforth, petitions must be submitted with the increased petition stamp-paper at Rs. 20. The High Court officials have clearly stated that the petitions submitted with Rs. 2 stamps will be rejected outright. So, the state government of Tamil Nadu should revise the prices back.
