100 times faster Wi-Fi

How many of you are looking for faster Wi-Fi connection? Perhaps, everyone. Here comes one. A new Wi-Fi network based on infrared rays will function 100 times faster than existing ones, according to what scientists have recently developed.

Researchers from Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands have developed this infrared based Wi-Fi connection that can transmit 40GB per second. Importantly, this completely obliterates the need for sharing internet, as the light rays transmit the connection to every device around.

Light antennas mounted on ceilings transmit wireless data. The rays of light received from optical fibre can thus be precisely directed as light rays.

The passive diffraction gratings used in these antennas help in radiating light rays of various wavelengths at varied angles. It is also possible to shift the light’s direction by altering light wavelengths.

When it comes to the use of IR rays, there is obviously a question about its safety towards human eye’s retina. There is nothing to worry as the wavelength used here will not reach the retina of eye.

When a user passes through with a smartphone or tablet outside the light antenna’s direction, the other light antenna will take over, according to researchers.
