A new scheme from the central government, called ‘Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana’, will be started on 25th March. This scheme will provide free spectacles, wheel-chair, etc. for the senior citizens who live below thew poverty line.
After the BJP took over the government under te Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it has been implementing several schemes which are beneficial to the poorer sections of the society.
As per the census which was taken during the year 2011, there are 10.83 Crore senior citizens in India. Out of this, 5.2 percent are suffering from several issues related to the old age.
The central government is now set to implement a new scheme in this regard - Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana to provide free spectacles, wheel-chair, hearing aids, etc., to the senior citizens living below the poverty line.
This scheme is scheduled to be formally inaugurated on 25th March at Nellore, Andhra State.
