World forestry day

21st March marks as the World Forestry Day. This day is also referred to as the International Day of Forests and it is celebrated all over the world. The celebration is intended to increase public awareness about the worth, significance and contributions of forest so as to balance lifecycle present on planet earth.
 
History behind the day
The practice of celebrating World Forestry Day began in 1971 at the 23rd General Assembly of European Confederation of Agriculture. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization decided to celebrate the day on every 21st of March.
 
This day was established in the Conference of States member of Food and Agriculture Organization. As a move to create public awareness about the need for forests, the event took place in a well planned manner.
