The state government of Tamil Nadu has decided to increase the salary of the part-time teachers. The details of teachers are being compiled.
16549 part-time teachers were appointed in the government schools in the state of Tamil Nadu in the year 2012.
These part-time teachers teach subjects such as gardening, computer science, tailoring, drawing, physical education, Yoga, and music.
They take 2 half-a-day classes per week. They are given a consolidated salary of Rs. 7000 per month. No salary will be paid during holidays and school term holidays.
In this situation, the union of part-time teachers protested demanding regular posting and increase in salary 2 weeks ago. Subsequently, the union members had a discussion with the state minister for school education Sengottaiyan and the Secretary, Udhayachandran.
It is gathered that the promise was given during this discussion that the salary for the part-time teachers will be increased. The general revision will be done every year. Meanwhile, the Education Officers have started compiling the data of all particulars of all part-time teachers earning a consolidated salary.
According to the School Education Department circles, once the data is verified, the list of part-time teachers eligible for salary rise would be released.
