The officials of the Department of PDS (Public Distribution System) have appealed to the ration card holders to link Aadhar card details to their rations cards immediately. They have given 2 months time for this. Meanwhile, provisions will be given in the PDS shops for these 2 months.
The officials explained that once Aadhar card is linked to the ration card, the same address as given in the Aadhar card will be given in the smart ration card to be issued. The ration card holders who have 2 different addresses in these cards can get this corrected online via
www.tnpds.gov.in
If the present residential address is to be given in the smart ration card, one can visit the e-service centres, give the correction details and get it changed as per the Aadhar card.
Even if the old address remains, the card holder can continue to get the provisions in the old allotted ration shop.
If some members have not yet linked their Aadhar cards with ration cards, 2 months provisions will be given. Within these 2 months, they have to complete linking Aadhar card details with the smart ration card.
Rules and regulations for getting smart ration card
It has been planned to set up special camps in respective villages from 1st April to distribute the new smart ration card.
The people coming to the ration shop for buying must bring their ration card and Aadhar card. They have to sign after receiving the smart ration card.
Correction of details in the ration card such as the application for the new card, the addition of members (with birth proof) and deletion of members (Death Certificate) can be carried out by the cardholders themselves online on the website:
