The city planners are eyeing at proposal to set up a bus terminus and market similar to the ones in Koyambedu, on the southern outskirts in Chennai.
As per sources, a consultant is appointed for studying the feasibility for selecting commercially viable projects including that of market and the land that was earlier identified at Nandhivaram in Guduvanchery.
This land belongs to Arulmigu Nadeeswarar Temple. This falls under the control of the Hindu Religions and Charitable Endowment department.
For taking up any development project, it is necessary for the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority to acquire the land that belongs to the trust.
According to sources, the plan is now to develop a land similar to Koyambedu and also develop the same for other commercial purposes. It should become a hub like Koyambedu that has a market or a commercial venture. This site is at 2-3 km distance from the bus terminus.
