Are you having trouble with quick draining of your Smartphone battery? If yes, you may have to check a few aspects of your phone before you blame it. Here are a few simple tips on how to save battery power on Android smartphones.

Keep the power saving mode on:
Turn on you device’s power saving mode. In most of the devices, you need to swipe down from the top screen for getting the menus. When you scroll the slide, there will be a power saving option. Select from this list. Say for instance, you get a notification from a social media app, it will remain stopped until you open the app.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS should be turned off
While not in use, keep Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and others turned off. All these consume a lot of battery power even when these are unused. The Wi-Fi connectivity, when turned on, will keep looking for wireless connections regularly until when it gets turned on back. This will consume battery even while the browser is not used. Similarly, swipe down from the top portion of the screen and deselect items from the side menus.

Unused apps should be turned off
When an app is not used, it should be turned off. When you click on the home button to close the app, it will still be functioning in background. You need to close the apps that are running in background and this needs manual doing.

Keep it in standby mode when not used
When the phone is not being used, keep it in standby mode. To do this, just press the power button. By doing so, you can reduce the battery power. Pressing the power button again will exit standby mode. Once the phone wakes up, you need to unlock it.

Do not choose vibration
Keep vibration turned off for notifications and alerts. For this, enter your Settings section and then Sounds and Display. If there is no setting here, you may go to the Applications and then messages.

Reduce phone brightness
Get into your Settings and enter Sounds and Display. Enter the Brightness option and slide it left to reduce the brightness. When your phone is in power saver mode, the brightness will, by itself, reduced.
Note that when the brightness is kept low, you will find it tough to see the display clearly while in outdoors. When you surf, there are shortcuts to reduce brightness there too.

Short screen timeout
Keep the screen timeout of your phone less. This setting is helpful in reducing the screen timeout period when the device is inactive. When the timeout period is less, there will be lesser power used for display.
