New Deans appointed in 5 government medical colleges

The state government of Tamil Nadu has appointed new deans for 5 government medical colleges including Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and medical college.

Dr. R. Narayan Babu, who was functioning as the Ex.Dean of Kilpauk Medical College and as the Director-in-charge of the Medical Education Board has been appointed as the Dean of the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and Medical College. He will continue in this post until the year 2020.

Dr. Ponnambala Namasivyam, the Head of the Department of Anaesthetics in Stanley Government Medical College and Dean-in-charge, is appointed as the Dean of Stanley Government Medical College.

Dr. Vanithamani, presently the Dean of Thanjavur Government Medical College, is appointed as the Dean of the Villupuram Government Medical College.

Dr.Gopinath, presently the Head of the Department of neurology in Chennai Medical College, is promoted and appointed as the Dean of Thanjavur Government Medical College.

All of them are scheduled to assume office in their new positions on Monday, 3rd April (today).

The officials of the department of health observed that with the appointment of permanent deans for these government medical colleges, the functioning of the college administration would be smooth and proper.

A senior official from the department of health informed that the Director of the Medical Education Board will be appointed in a week’s time, The various activities for this appointment are in progress. There are 3 persons short-listed in the selection and one of them will be selected as the director of the medical education board shortly.
