The Chennai High Court has an ordered an interim ban on the government order released by the directorate of school education department that all teacher who joined schools as teachers even before 2011 must write TET (Teachers Eligibility Test).

In an order dated 1st March sent by the director of school education to all government-aided schools, it was informed that the teachers who fail to participate in the TET conducted on 29th and 30th April may lose their jobs.

The teachers working in government-aided schools strongly protested this and filed a petition objecting to this order. This was taken up for enquiry in the Chennai High Court yesterday.

The representative of the teachers in government-aided school presented the case that the teachers had joined duty well before the government order, that is, before 15th November 2011. So, they need to be exempted from writing TET.

Justice D. Raja, after hearing the case, adjourned the case to 18th April and issued an order of an interim ban on the order announced by the director of school education.
