150 extra seats in government medical colleges

In the government medical colleges, there is going to be 150 extra seats in the academic year 2017-18. This move follows clearance of decks at Pudukottai College by the Medical Council of India.
 
The Union health ministry is likely to communicate before onset of MBBS counselling, said J. Radhakrishnan, the health secretary.
 
So far, in 21 medical colleges including those in Chennai, there have been 2,750 seats. Later, in 2016, 15 percent seats were allotted for national quota and the counselling for 2,318 seats was held.
 
It was in August 2015 that the college foundation was sanctioned. And it was laid in March 2016 spread across 127-acre plot located in Mullar village.
