The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre informed that the recently formed low depression zone near Andaman has moved away and hence there will be an increase in the intensity of heat in the interior areas of Tamil Nadu.

A maximum temperature of 40 Degrees Celsius has been recorded in the interior districts of Tamil Madu - Vellore, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, and Palayamkottai. This is 4 degrees higher than the normal average expected temperature.

Presently, there is a low depression zone formed over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. This might transform into a very low depression zone in the next 24 hours. In case this depression is likely to drift and move away from Tamil Nadu, the intensity of heat will be much higher in the next 3 days, especially in the interior districts of Tamil Nadu.

It may rain in a few places due to the effect of thermal convection. A rainfall of 2 cm has been recorded in Thalavadi (Erode District) and Papanasam (Nellai District).

Manual for weather-related Tamil terminology released.

The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre further informed that a seminar is being arranged on 19th April at the Children and Family Welfare Training Centre in Egmore, Chennai. The departments closely linked to the Meteorological centre such as Indian Railway, Chennai Metro Railway, etc., will participate in this seminar. The Director General (K. J. Ramesh) of the Indian Meteorology Centre will participate.

During this seminar, a manual (Handbook) made on behalf of the Chennai Meteorological Centre comprising of the weather-related terminology in Tamil will be released.
