In order to allow Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMEL) to construct the entry and exit points for the AG-DMS underground metro rail station, the traffic police have carried out the following changes in the traffic pattern in Anna Salai area.

· Motorists on Anna Salai, heading from Saidapet toward Thousand Lights, will have to use the centre of road when they near DMS.

· Portions of Anna Salai near Teynampet and Nandanam, earlier cordoned off for work, will reopen for traffic, as CMRL has completed a major part of construction on the section between between DMS and Saidapet.

· Construction of four stations on the 3.3km stretch between DMS and Saidapet is also nearing completion. The 7.3km line from May Day Park to Saidapet will be open to public mid-2018.

· Once the underground station along Anna Salai is operational along with other metro rail facilities, the transit system will connect Central and the airport along the arterial road.

· Subways on either side of the road near DMS have been partially cordoned off, pushing the traffic to centre of the road, a CMRL official said. The entrance to the AGDMS station will be located close to the subway on either side of the road near DMS, he said.

· There will not be any major change to traffic patterns on the rest of the road where metro rail construction is now underway.
