With just one week left for the release of Baahubali - the Conclusion, Sathyaraj who has played a key role in the flick has come forward with an apology for his comment on Kannadigas as dogs.
The actor plays the role Kattapa in the film. The actor has been facing opposition from pro-Kannada group for his comments on them a few years ago. In fact, a few of the Karnataka people had assaulted Tamilians over Cauvery dispute.
Sathyaraj, in his statement, has said that he understands that his words regarding Cauvery water crisis has agitated people of Karnataka. I do not stand against Kannadigas or Karnataka, he adds.
In the past 30 years, I have an assistant called Shekar who is a Kannadiga. For the statement I made 9 years ago, I truly apologize, he adds. I am just a small part of the magnum-opus, Baahubali. My comment should in no way affect the film, his statement reads.
9 years ago, at the time of Cauvery protest, all the Tamil people living in Karnataka were hit, and there were protests to stall the Tamil film releases. There was a film industry meeting held following this. During the meet, everyone spoke their anger out, and I was one among them, he points.
My comment that was made 9 years ago is now making the rounds on YouTube and people are feeling offended for it. My heartfelt apologies for the same, he adds.
Sathyaraj shall continue his protests for justice for Tamilians, be it any issue: Cauvery, Sri Lanka, or whatever, he points.
